H\u00e9las ! comme c\u2019est peu compris, les grandes \u00e2mes !
\nL\u2019orage \u00e9tait bien noir quand nous nous rencontr\u00e2mes ;
\nJe livrais au vieux monde un assaut hasardeux ;
\nJe luttais ; vous, tribuns de l\u2019art, ma\u00eetres tous deux,
\nForts, dressant devant moi votre \u00e9p\u00e9e \u00e9toil\u00e9e,
\nVous me pr\u00eetes la main dans l\u2019ardente m\u00eal\u00e9e ;
\nEt dans ce si\u00e8cle, o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e2me est en proie aux moqueurs,
\nJe fus le combattant, vous \u00eates les vainqueurs.
\nQuand s\u2019ouvrit l\u2019\u00e2pre exil aux froides casemates,
\nProscrit, vous me suiviez, et ha\u00ef, vous m\u2019aim\u00e2tes.
\nJ\u2019ai le flot \u00e0 dompter, j\u2019ai la nuit \u00e0 franchir ;
\nJe vous cherche en mon ciel que vous faites blanchir ;
\nAinsi le nautonier battu des mers obscures
