Ce vieux livre sentait une odeur d\u2019encensoir.
\nNous all\u00e2mes ravis dans un coin nous asseoir.
\nDes estampes partout ! quel bonheur ! quel d\u00e9lire !<\/p>\n
Nous l\u2019ouvr\u00eemes alors tout grand sur nos genoux,
\nEt, d\u00e8s le premier mot, il nous parut si doux
\nQu\u2019oubliant de jouer, nous nous m\u00eemes \u00e0 lire.<\/p>\n
Nous l\u00fbmes tous les trois ainsi, tout le matin,
\nJoseph, Ruth et Booz, le bon Samaritain,
\nEt, toujours plus charm\u00e9s, le soir nous le rel\u00fbmes.<\/p>\n
Tels des enfants, s\u2019ils ont pris un oiseau des cieux,
\nS\u2019appellent en riant et s\u2019\u00e9tonnent, joyeux,
\nDe sentir dans leur main la douceur de ses plumes.<\/p>\n
