\n\u2014 F\u00eates, d\u00e9c\u00e8s, mariages, anniversaires \u2014
\nVous marquez, jour \u00e0 jour, de sonnants commentaires,
\nAvec le timbre ardent ou las de vos accords,
\nTout ce dont la province \u00e9troite et compass\u00e9e
\nAnime son c\u0153ur encor
\nEt sa pens\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Les faits quotidiens, les gestes r\u00e9guliers,
\nEt les motifs d\u2019amour, et les causes de haine,
\nEt ce qu\u2019on dit aux cabarets, chaque semaine,
\nEt ce dont les vieillards parlent \u00e0 leurs foyers,
\nVous le solennisez au soir et \u00e0 l\u2019aurore ;
\nEt les alleluias du pr\u00eatre et du bedeau,
\nTout se fond et grandit dans la forge sonore,
\nDont vos battants d\u2019airain sont les brusques marteaux.<\/p>\n

\u00d4 chants de bronze et d\u2019or, qui \u00e9clatez sans nombre,
\nSur les tracas mesquins et les desseins futiles,
\nEt les pauvres soucis et les soins infertiles,
\nDes minimes cit\u00e9s qui se meurent dans l\u2019ombre,
\nQuand donc vos sons puissants et clairs publieront-ils
\nQuelle \u00e2me neuve et profonde
\n\u00c9meut le monde
