Quand tu me plaisais tant que j\u2019en pouvais mourir,
\nQuand je mettais l\u2019ardeur et la paix sous ton toit,
\nQuand je riais sans joie et souffrais sans g\u00e9mir,
\nAfin d\u2019\u00eatre un climat constant autour de toi ;<\/p>\n

Quand ma calme, obstin\u00e9e et fi\u00e8re d\u00e9raison
\nTe confondait avec le puissant univers,
\nSi bien que mon esprit te voyait sombre ou clair
\nSelon les ciels d\u2019azur ou les froides saisons,<\/p>\n

Je pressentais d\u00e9j\u00e0 qu\u2019il me faudrait gu\u00e9rir
\nDu choix suave et dur de ton \u00eatre sans feu,
\nJ\u2019attendais cet instant o\u00f9 l\u2019on voit d\u00e9p\u00e9rir
\nL\u2019enchantement sacr\u00e9 d\u2019avoir eu ce qu\u2019on veut :<\/p>\n

Instant \u00e9blouissant et qui vaut d\u2019expier,
\nO\u00f9, rus\u00e9, r\u00e9solu, puissant, ing\u00e9nieux,
\nL\u2019invincible d\u00e9sir s\u2019empare des beaux pieds,
\nEt comme un thyrse en fleur s\u2019enroule jusqu\u2019aux yeux !<\/p>\n

Peut-\u00eatre ton esprit \u00e0 mon \u00e2me li\u00e9
\nSe plaisait-il parmi nos contraintes sans fin,
\nTu n\u2019avais pas ma soif, tu n\u2019avais pas ma faim,
\nMais moi, je travaillais au d\u00e9sir d\u2019oublier !<\/p>\n

\u2014 Certes tu garderas de m\u2019avoir fait r\u00eaver
\nUn prestige divin qui hantera ton c\u0153ur,
\nMais moi, l\u2019esprit toujours par l\u2019ardeur soulev\u00e9,
\nEt qu\u2019aurait fait souffrir m\u00eame un constant bonheur,<\/p>\n

Je ne cesserai pas de contempler sur toi,
\nQui me fus imposant plus qu\u2019un temple et qu\u2019un dieu,
\nL\u2019arbitraire d\u00e9clin du soleil de tes yeux
\nEt la cessation paisible de ma foi
