\nLeur divertissement ne les y portait pas ;
\nOn s\u2019en allait les vendre, \u00e0 ce que dit l\u2019histoire :
\n\tLe charton n\u2019avait pas dessein
\n\tDe les mener voir Tabarin,
\n\tDom Pourceau criait en chemin
\nComme s\u2019il avait eu cent bouchers \u00e0 ses trousses :
\nC\u2019\u00e9tait une clameur \u00e0 rendre les gens sourds.
\nLes autres animaux, cr\u00e9atures plus douces,

\nCes deux personnes-ci, plus honn\u00eates que toi,
\nDevraient t\u2019apprendre \u00e0 vivre ou du moins \u00e0 te taire :
\nRegarde ce Mouton ; a-t-il dit un seul mot ?
\n\tIl est sage. \u2013 Il est un sot,
\nRepartit le Cochon : s\u2019il savait son affaire,
\nIl crierait, comme moi, du haut de son gosier ;
\n\tEt cette autre personne honn\u00eate
\n\tCrierait tout du haut de sa t\u00eate.
\nIls pensent qu\u2019on les veut seulement d\u00e9charger,
\nLa Ch\u00e8vre de son lait, le Mouton de sa laine :
\n\tJe ne sais pas s\u2019ils ont raison ;
\n\tMais quant \u00e0 moi qui ne suis bon
\n\tQu\u2019\u00e0 manger, ma mort est certaine.
\n\tAdieu mon toit et ma maison. \u00bb
\nDom Pourceau raisonnait en subtil personnage :
\nMais que lui servait-il ? Quand le mal est certain,
\nLa plainte ni la peur ne changent le destin ;
